QUOTE (noncomposmentis Feb 17 2010, 05:52 PM) I always thought it had to do with what games you played as a kid. If you just played Final Fantasy on PS or something like that then this kind of game (NS) might just be too overwhelming.

I grew up playing Doom 2 and Q2 over dialup, so keyboard controls and fast action is like my natural environment. I always thought it had to do with what games you played as a kid. Whereas one of my ex-roommates that plays shooters still plays NS every once in a while. Whenever I tried to get people in the 2nd camp to play NS, they'd be put-off by the speed of combat and the fact that you were fighting other players instead of the computer. The people I know that game: tend to like shooters, and also other games as long as their pace isn't too slow OR they like RTS games and other games that were not too fast or too competitive. QUOTE (Biglines Feb 17 2010, 04:10 AM) so those people that play ns and also play rts don't play rts? :P "Someone" is not anyone - "Someone" is you! ) "Someone" is in most cases a very big company, what can spend a lot of money in it - much more then UWE can. Someone has to show them the style of NS2 and has to tell them some of the great facts we know about it. If people know about NS2, they can start thinking about, where they'll spend their money.īut only a small group will start a research about different games. Now where they have heard about NS2, they are thinking about it too. They tried to figure out if they should buy SC2, D3 or both. Some friends heard about Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3, but nothing about NS2. If you don't make any deeper thoughts about what you buy next - you just buy a well-known game with good marketing. The release-date was the smallest influence factor for my choice and same it's for some friends of mine: I considered buying SC2 instead of NS2 last year. SC2, coming out together isn't neccesarily a problem as they are almost polar opposites when it comes to the style of RTS.Īny release date has its ups and downs, I'm sure UWE has taken market considerations into account, or at least paid someone else to.

STARCRAFT RELEASE DATE FULL

The alpha would be, but not the full game.Įven SC2 and. SC2 has a june release date and frankly, I don't think NS2 would be out by then. It would make a lot of sense if NS2 would avoid the big hitters though. It's not the same as say, supreme commander 2 and starcraft 2 coming out at the same time, where both are pure RTS games. And keep in mind that NS2 and Starcraft 2 are different genres. This game has a little bit for everybody if you're into RTS games.QUOTE (BadMouth Feb 16 2010, 03:27 PM) As long as they don't come out on exactly the same date or week. In my opinion it still holds up today 8 years after it's creation. It's a really difficult game in the later levels of each campaign. If there's one thing I have to give this game above all else.

With each species getting their own storyline that eventually brings everything full circle. It's set up so that the player has to play an individual campaign of each species. Really sets the mood that all three species are at each other's throats in one way or another. Trying to build your base and protect it while building an army for war is a fun challenge. Each species has their own ups and downs in combat, but that's what makes the game so diverse. Terran are humans, Zerg which are ferocious "Alien" inspired creatures, and Protoss which are unique no mouthed aliens. I have a feeling that most other RTS games would pale in comparison. Starcraft is the only RTS game I need to play. In fact Starcraft and it's expansion have been the only two RTS games I've ever played.
